PEOPLE Magazine is one of my guilty pleasures (well, that and chocolate). Now and then, it's nice to be able to escape from the world of bickering kids and endless carpools and packing lunches, and enter the world of beautiful people, adorable kids, chic clothes and glamorous getaways! Frankly, I don't care whether someone was kidnapped by aliens or whether so-and-so is secretly a member of a militia secessionist group, which is why I don't read any of the cheaper rags. I like PEOPLE Magazine because they don't go out of their way to invade celebrities' private lives, or publish unsubstantiated rumors or showcase photos of celebrities looking their worst. I hate that kind of negative, tear-down mentality, and I love the inspirational stories that PEOPLE Magazine features, from everyday heroes to weight-loss success stories to stories of people helping their communities. Besides, who doesn't love looking at photos of Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds in their sweats?
For years I piggybacked on my sister's subscription, now I get my fix at dentist's offices and airport lounges, and buy single issues when the issue looks too good to pass up. I don't have the time to read it each and every week -- but when PEOPLE Magazine's Annual Sexiest Man Alive issue comes out, you can bet I'll make the time! It's coming out on November 15, and I fully intend to read it from cover to cover. Halloween just finished, but all the candy we have at home doesn't compare to the man candy we're sure to find between this issue's pages :) Here are a couple of past winners I'm sure you all know:
I've loved Johnny Depp ever since he starred on 21 Jump Street in the 80's. I'm sure he doesn't want to remember that part of his career, but with all the work he's done since, he's proved that he's more than just a pretty face. Plus, he's one of the few actors that I can tolerate wearing a mustache!
Alfie is quite irritated that I refuse to erase X-Men: The Last Stand from our DVR. He doesn't understand that erasing Hugh Jackman is a big deal! He reminds me of Crocodile Dundee, but good-looking :)
Who will be the Sexiest Man Alive for 2012? Rumor has it that it's Channing Tatum -- and if you've seen him in Magic Mike or the remake movie of 21 Jump Street, you'll know why.
